The public is invited to attend a community celebration for Mayor Royce E. Pollard, 3:30 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16 at the Water Resources Education Center, 4600 SE Columbia Way. Program will begin at 5 p.m. The event is free. Light refreshments will be served.
Royce Pollard has been Mayor of "America's Vancouver" since 1996. He was also a member of the Vancouver City Council from 1989. Before running for elected office, Pollard served his country for 27 years as an officer in the U.S. Army. Pollard retired from the Army in 1988 after fulfilling the duties of his last assignment - Commander of Vancouver Barracks.
"I have dedicated my life to public service and have never regretted it for one moment," said Pollard. "It has been my greatest honor to serve the people of this country and this community."
